You hear laughter. Terrible, terrible laughter. You have heard of rumors, but nothing substantial. The shadow of a raven flying overhead is casted upon you. Surely it couldn’t be…?
A raven. She calls herself Siduri and claims to know the truth of all things. It is not known if she truly believes what she says, or if she is nothing more than a master con artist. In any case, she makes others wary, as her appearance portends mischief for everyone else.
Since her appearance in Umbra Munte, a following has begun to grow around her, consisting mostly of songbirds. These songbirds have taken up the task of preaching Siduri’s beliefs. Most ignore the songbirds, at most, shoo them away. The same cannot be done for Siduri herself. Should Siduri call upon her feathered disciples, they will gather in a large number at an alarming speed. A wise animal knows not to question Siduri too much, lest they face her army’s wrath of a thousand pecks.
Siduri claims that magic is real. She calls it ‘the Language of the Birds.’ As of yet, no one other than Siduri and a select few of her closest songbird disciples understands it. They may demonstrate it to others, it sounds nothing more than raving gibberish.
She often preaches about a grand mountain somewhere near Umbra Munte. The location frequently changes, and it is highly likely to be ‘just beyond’ the territory of an enemy of those she is preaching to. She claims that this grand mountain is where souls go when they die. It is a wonderful place; there is abundant food, the weather is never harsh, and no one ever has to fight over territory. Anyone who reaches the mountain while still alive, however, won’t have to die first. Any wounds or diseases they might have will be healed and the elderly grow young again. Siduri claims that she flew there and spent many years there, but she knew she had to share the paradise of the grand mountain with all the animals of Umbra Munte, whether or not they wanted it.
Should you come across her, or indeed, she comes across you, follow everyone else’s advice: be extremely skeptical of anything she says, don’t follow her orders, and prepare to dodge her and her disciples’ pecks. Unless, of course, you want to become a follower?
(Rumor has it that Siduri is a dissident of the Cult of Wolfbane. Given how her teachings are vastly different from the cult, yet her methods are remarkably similar, this is highly likely.)
